Village Electronics Recycling is a Calgary-founded, Calgary-based company specializing in the sustainable and secure handling of your used and end of life electronics and e-waste. We offer secure and sustainable used electronic pickup and recycling.

Founder Matthew Bladek is a Calgary local, having studied at the University of Calgary and University of Cape Town, South Africa. Having worked as an urban planner internationally and locally, including in waste solid waste management, I was dismayed by the amount of waste and unsustainable practices occurring in this industry. For many, sustainability is simply a buzz-word and not a principal, approach, and method to doing business. There has to be a better way!

The Village Way

People ask me why did I start Village Electronics Recycling? It was to help! To help others, to help the environment, to help improve an electronics waste management industry which has been plagued with scandal and reprehensible business practices. Keeping the recycling material flows, such as those for e-waste and electronics, durable and long-lasting is a tremendous challenge, but one that I feel we can take on. This is why we work hard to repurpose, repair, and rehabilitate electronics to workable condition, and for un-usable electronics, why we partner with local processors who responsibly handle materials. We Help You do Good

Not just the environment, but also the community. I grew up in Calgary, Canada which provided me with incredible opportunities and all of the first-world comforts that most around the world can only dream of experiencing. Having pursued further education and resided in South Africa for many years, I saw first hand the high level of ambition of many people but the unfortunate lack of resources to achieve their goals. This has forever had an impact on me and how I want to run the Village, which is why my company donates a portion of our usable electronics to charities in need.
